Emily Thomas hopes to help Swansea City Women challenge on all fronts
Forward Emily Thomas wants to help Swansea City Women challenge for silverware on all fronts following their 8-3 win over Cwmbran Celtic Ladies in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.
Thomas assisted three goals in her first full 90 minutes for the Swans, as well as forcing an own goal with a low cross, as the visitors advance to the quarter-finals and a tie away at Cascade YC Women.
Thomas was pleased to make an impact and see her side progress to the next round and, with games in the Welsh Cup and Genero Adran Trophy coming up, wants to make sure the Swans remain in the mix for as many trophies as possible.
“The cup is huge for us, I think everyone knows how much we want that cup, and we are working so hard to get it," she said.
"We’ve got a few games in cup competitions coming up, so hopefully step by step we can get towards the finals.
“We understand that it’s important not to underestimate any team, Cwmbran showed that with how they fought back in the first half and we will learn a lot from that.
“It doesn’t matter what league or tier a team is in, whoever comes out on top on the day wins the game.”
“It wasn’t an easy game, I think we made it a little hard for ourselves at the start, but at the end of the day we are through to the next round so everyone is happy.
“I enjoyed the game. I think running at people is one of my strong points. When I’ve got the ball, I will be looking to run and get a goal for myself or someone else.
“We really needed to come together as a team and show how strong we can be, we didn’t let our heads drop and we’ve come back and won."
