Emily Richards | It's a really disappointing result
Swansea City Women’s midfielder Emily Richards believes their second-half performance against Barry Town United offers plenty of encouragement, despite the disappointment of conceding a last-gasp equaliser.
Richards was on the scoresheet in the 2-2 draw, netting her sixth goal in five appearances, and her strike had looked set to be the winner with Swansea leading 2-1 going into injury time.
But Ellie Gunney’s 91st-minute header secured a point for the hosts, leaving the Swans five points off the top of the Genero Adran Premier with a game in hand.
“Everyone is really gutted with how it ended,” said Richards.
“Obviously it’s a really disappointing result for us because we came here for more, and we should really have secured the three points in the second half.
“I think our second-half performance was a lot better, it was a positive.
“There are definitely things that we need to take from the game going forward.
“We played the way that we have been looking to, we got the goals, but obviously we are gutted for it to end the way it did.
“We will pick ourselves up and we will go again in training, it will be a hard week in training to show ourselves again next weekend.
“I’m always glad to be on the scoresheet, but I would have been far happier had we got the three points."
