An EFL Trust-commissioned report has revealed the work undertaken by Swansea City AFC Foundation has had a social value of over £17million within our city and local communities.

The figures are also included in the Foundation’s latest Impact Report, which covers the period encompassing the 2022-23 season.

The EFL Trust commissioned industry experts Substance to measure the impact of clubs within the Community.

This social value figure shows an increase from the previous reporting period, rising from £16.4 million. This is a social value return on investment of 16.6 per cent, meaning for every £1 of funding the Foundation receives, a social value of £16.60 is delivered into the local community.

The Foundation’s latest impact report, detailing the influence they have had on the local community across the 2022-23 campaign, also revealed an increase in engagement numbers of more than 33 per cent, with an increase of 60 per cent in the diversity of participants.

Additionally, the Foundation is delighted to have seen the number of participants with disabilities rise to nine per cent from 7.3 per cent across this period, with participants from ethnic minorities also rising, climbing from 8.1 per cent in the previous report to 9.2 per cent.

Across the 4,216 sessions held by the Foundation, there were more than 88,000 attendances, with a number of individuals taking part in more than one Foundation project.

Over this reporting period, the Foundation introduced the FIT Fans project to Wales in the form of its FIT Jacks initiative.

The 12-week programme has seen 94 per cent of participants become more physically active and 93 per cent of participants seeing an improvement in their mental health.

Following the incredible initial impact of FIT Jacks, the programme has since been expanded into the wider community after sessions were originally held only at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The results of the expansion will be detailed in next year's Impact Report.
