ON THIS DAY: Watkin bags a brace
23rd March
Scunthorpe 1-2 Swansea City
Division Three: Tuesday, March 23, 1999
Steve Watkin struck twice as the Swans came from behind to maintain their play-off push with victory at Scunthorpe.
Despite falling behind to Justin Walker's 11th minute strike, the Swans - who saw Jason Price forced off shortly after through injury - failed to let that setback dampen their spirits.
John Hollins' side were back on level terms before the half-hour mark through Watkin, with the game level until a dramatic finale settled this encounter.
With three minutes to go, up popped Watkin to fire the Swans ahead and clinch a vital away win.
But, come the end of the season, Scunthorpe would get their revenge as they 3-2 after a two-legged play-off semi-final.
