On This Day | Swans complete double Spanish swoop

Swansea City completed a double swoop for Spanish duo Jordi Gomez and Gorka Pintado on June 6, 2008.
Highly-rated midfielder Gomez arrived from Espanyol on a season-long loan, while former Granada striker Pintado joined on a permanent deal.
The pair were among the Swans’ first summer arrivals as Roberto Martinez prepared for life in the Championship after his side captured the League One title the previous campaign.

Gomez immediately endeared himself to the Jack Army, scoring the winning goal against Cardiff City in the first South Wales derby for seven years.
He netted a further 13 times in 51 appearances in SA1 before following Martinez to Wigan Athletic in June 2009.
Meanwhile, Pintado was a regular feature during his first two seasons with the Swans: playing 75 times in all competitions, scoring eight goals.

However, the forward only managed one more appearance the following campaign and, after an initial loan spell, he joined Cypriot side AEK Larnaca in the summer of 2011.
