Swansea City completed the signing of defender Jordi Amat on June 27, 2013.

The Spanish Under-21 international arrived from Espanyol for £2.5 million, signing a four-year deal at the Liberty.

Amat became the Swans’ first summer signing as Michael Laudrup looked to bolster his squad ahead of the club’s Europa League campaign.

The centre-half made 30 appearances in all competitions during his first season in SA1.

Nine of those came during the European adventure, including the full 90 minutes of the memorable 3-0 victory over Valencia at the Mestalla.

He played a further 10 times during the 2014-15 campaign as the Swans recorded their highest Premier League finish of eighth.

Amat made an additional 31 appearances in all competitions over the following two seasons, before spending 2017-18 on loan at Real Betis.

The defender returned to his native Spain on a permanent basis in August 2018; linking up with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano having appeared 73 times for the Swans during five years in SA1.
