Wilfried Bony became Swansea City’s record signing on this day in 2013.

The Ivorian striker joined the Swans from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for £12 million after top-scoring in the 2012-13 Eredivisie.

Bony made an immediate impact in SA1, scoring twice on his full debut in the 4-0 victory over Malmo in the Europa League third qualifying round.

The forward continued to impress in South Wales as he scored in the memorable 3-0 success over Valencia, as well as a last-minute winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

He scored 25 goals in all competitions during his debut season which helped the Swans finish 12th in the Premier League and reach the last 32 of the Europa League.

A further nine goals followed in the first half of the 2014-15 campaign, prompting Manchester City to fork out £28 million for his services.

Bony rejoined the Swans in August 2017 and scored three goals in 19 appearances, before a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament sustained against Leicester City cut his 2017-18 season short.
