Swansea City Under-18s coach Darren Davies wants his players to use the disappointment of defeat against Cardiff as fuel to drive them on in their learning process.

A hat-trick from Tanatswa Nyakuhwa proved the difference as the visitors claimed a 4-1 win at Landore Training Ground.

The Swans had led through Josh Carey's strike just before the half-hour mark, but the visitors were to bounce back with two goals in six minutes from Japhet Matondo and Nyakuhwa to lead going into the interval.

And it was Nyakuhwa who netted twice in the second-half to complete his hat-trick and ensure the Bluebirds went away with all three points.

“It’s a big learning moment for the boys. At the end of the day, there was individual brilliance that changed the game," said Davies.

“In fairness to the young man who scored a hat-trick, he did really well. We are disappointed with the goals we conceded.

“In the main moments of the game, in and out of possession, we’ve either conceded goals from trying to play out the back or from transition against the ball when we’ve lost it.

“If we look at the club model, we want to get on the ball and we want to dominate possession. So we are vulnerable to that transition moment and that was exposed today, we got caught out.

“It’s part of the process that these boys will make mistakes, but by the time they make the step up, mistakes will be hard to come by.”
