Darren Davies applauds "excellent" performance from Under-18s
Coach Darren Davies felt Swansea City Under-18s had got the just rewards for the quality of their performance after they beat Hull City 3-1 at Landore Training Ground.
Iwan Morgan drilled home from a Callum Deacon pass in the first half, before Rohan Davies added a second minutes after the break; driving into the area and firing into the bottom corner.
Thomas Woodward would be the one to seal the three points just after the hour mark, bagging his second goal in two games after finishing off another Deacon delivery.
“It was a good performance today, I’m really pleased with the way we played. I thought we played some very good football,” said Davies.
“We scored some very good goals, and we probably could have scored even more. We played some excellent football this afternoon.
“Overall, it’s been a good last three or four days. The lads have been great in training. It’s been a good learning moment for the boys with Crewe last week, then doubling back to play again a few days later.
Tuesday afternoon saw the return of Swans keeper Evan Watts and centre-back Filip Lissah after the duo had endured just over five months on the sidelines due to injuries, whilst Kyrell Wilson and Sam Parker picked up more vital minutes.
And Davies was delighted to welcome back some of the more experienced figures in the squad.
“Against Crewe, we used 10 under-16s and under-15s players. Four under-16s started this game," Davies added.
“But we were also able to welcome back Evan Watts, Kyrell Wilson, Filip Lissah and Sam Parker, so we had some experienced bodies to help the younger ones.
“At 60 minutes we were able to re-energise the team with them coming on. It’s great having them back and it’s another positive contribution to the day.”
