Myles Peart-Harris believes a run in the Emirates FA Cup can be beneficial for Swansea City’s league aspirations as they prepare to face Southampton in the third round of the knockout competition.

The Swans face the Saints at the last-64 stage of the cup for the second time in just four seasons, having met at the Swansea.com Stadium back in 2022.

St Mary’s is the venue for Sunday’s televised clash as the visitors take on Premier League opposition.

And Peart-Harris believes performing well in the cup can only aid Swansea’s cause in the Championship, with Luke Williams’ side currently sitting six points off the play-off places.

“Obviously for every club the league is the priority, but we want to go as far as we can in the competition,” he said.

“It’s another opportunity to perform, to build momentum and to win games. I’ve had the chance to play in the cup for Brentford and I really enjoyed those games and I hope I get another chance on Sunday.

“It’s very easy for everyone to say they are not having a good season, but they are a Premier League side and Premier League opposition.

“So there’s no doubt it is going to be a tough challenge. We are up for the fight and the boys are looking forward to it.”

Peart-Harris, who joined the Swans on loan from Brentford on deadline day at the end of the summer window, has two goals and three assists to his name since his arrival, including his dramatic late winner against Luton Town.

And the midfielder has certainly enjoyed his time in SA1 so far.

“It’s been great, I have enjoyed every minute of my time here. The staff, the players, the city itself, it has all been wonderful,” he said.

“I have managed to get some goals and assists, and the aim is to keep contributing as much as I can.”
