Cup final joy for Sheehan

Josh Sheehan experienced cup final joy for the third successive year as the Swans Academy lifted the FAW Youth Cup trophy after beating The New Saints 6-1 at the Liberty.

Sheehan put in a man of the match performance to help the young Swans on their way to domestic cup triumph, scoring once while having a big influence on Cameron Toshack's side's dominant display.

Ryan Hedges scored twice, while Adam King, Connor Roberts, Kyle Copp and Sheehan added goals in the emphatic victory over their Welsh counterparts.

And Sheehan was keen to highlight the importance of their FAW Youth Cup success.

"It's a great feeling," explained the 19-year-old starlet. "It's the third year in a row that I have been involved in winning this trophy, but the club's fifth.

"Every year that we win this trophy, it means a lot to the club and the Academy.

"No matter which team we play, we're always desperate to win it, and I think our success represents the bright future this club has.

"We were very sharp tonight, played fast two-touch football and dominated possession throughout the 90 minutes.

"The only downside was that we conceded a goal, which was disappointing.

"But overall, it was a great performance and one that we can be proud of."

Meanwhile, Sheehan was delighted to grab himself a goal at the Liberty, to go along with his semi-final wonder strike against Cardiff. 

"For me personally, it's been a great campaign," he added. "I'm very happy to score tonight, to go along with the goal I got against Cardiff in the semi-final.

"Scoring goals is something I want to add to my game, and it is something I have been working very hard on to improve."
