Midfielder Corey Hurford felt Swansea City Under-21s' emphatic victory over Birmingham City was the perfect culmination of a season of hard work on and off the pitch by the whole squad and staff.

The development side rounded off their 2022-23 campaign with a stunning 10-1 win over the Blues, and made it five wins from five at the Swansea.com Stadium over the course of the season.

Hurford grabbed one of those goals with a wonderful individual run and finish while Josh Thomas (4), Joe Thomas, Liam Smith, Cameron Congreve, Tivonge Rushesha, and Sam Leverett also found the net.

Rico Patterson scored the Blues only goal, while visiting captain Rico Browne was sent off for dissent with 20 minutes remaining and the score already at 8-1.

Former Briton Ferry man Hurford scored Swansea's ninth goal of the afternoon with a magnificent solo effort, and was left to reflect on an ideal way to round off he season.

"I'm landed for the boys, it was a great performance from everyone. It just shows how much hunger and commitment we have to pull out a result like that right at the end of the season," said Hurford.

"With the goal, I thought I could just chip in as we had already scored eight! I had a little go, and in the end it came off and I was landed with it.

"All year, everyone has been working hard and to finish it off like we did just shows that everything we've done all season has paid off.

"As a team, we've been dominant this year. I feel like we've caused teams lot of difficulties as we like to move the ball and we do it in our way.

"Scoring 10 goals in one game in this league is amazing, not many teams will do that and it just feels like a performance like that is the finishing touch on the back of everyone's hard work."
