Cooper expects trio to be fit for Hull opener
Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper expects Jay Fulton, George Byers and Wayne Routledge to all be in contention for the opening game of the Championship season against Hull.
Midfielder Byers and winger Routledge missed out on the final pre-season friendly against Atalanta – in which the Swans emerged 2-1 winners – with minor knocks.
Fulton, meanwhile, was forced off near the end of the Swans’ come-from-behind victory.
But Cooper is hopeful that the trio will be in contention to face the Tigers in SA1 next Saturday.
“Jay just had a bang to the hip, so hopefully it is just a knock that will take a couple of days to get over," said Cooper.
“He played well again today and it was a pity he came off as 90 minutes would have done him good, but I think a couple of days and he will be fine.
“We did not want to risk either George or Wayne today. If it had been this time next week then it might have been a different decision.
“But we did not need to take that today and hopefully they will be back in training early next week.”
