Cooper delighted with U18s’ captain role
Brandon Cooper is relishing the challenge of leading Swansea City Under-18s this season.
The 17-year-old has been handed the captain’s armband ahead of their opening Premier League South game at Reading on Saturday (1pm).
The central defender, who has made 34 appearances across two seasons for the young Swans, believes he is ready to take the lead.
“Being named captain means so much to me,” said Cooper.
“I have been with the U18s for a few seasons, so to have the chance to be a leader to the team means a lot.
“I always try to be a leader on the pitch. I think that being captain will only help that opportunity.
“I like to communicate, organise and be in charge from my position as centre-back on the pitch.
“I hope I can feed the experience I gained from my previous two seasons with the U18s to the younger players to add to their knowledge.
“Being captain this campaign will add a bit of pressure, but I feel I am a natural leader and that is something I will aim to thrive off.”
