Connor: Fans will be key for us
Connor Roberts believes Swansea City’s fans have a big part to play as Graham Potter’s young team look to thrive in the Championship this season.
The Swans have taken seven points from their first three Championship games following relegation from the Premier League in May.
That is an impressive return given the number of senior players who have left the Liberty over the summer.
New boss Potter is deploying a Swans side packed with youth – and short on experience – whose hunger to impress has been apparent in each of their three outings so far.
The Jack Army have responded to their team’s performances, with more than 1,500 travelling fans roaring the Swans on as they battled to a creditable goalless draw at Birmingham on Friday night.
And as the Swans get set to host Leeds on Tuesday, local lad Roberts reckons the club’s support will make a difference throughout 2018-19.
“The fans were unbelievable again at Birmingham,” he said.
“I think they know we are going to get games like that one where teams boom it long at us and we have to head everything away.
“We have to fight and battle in games like that and there will be plenty of them this season. I think the fans are going to be with us every step of the way.
“They understand we are in transition, that we have had a lot of changes and there are a lot of young lads in the team.
“We are not going to talk about getting promoted or anything like that. We have to do our best and see where we end up and I think our fans will back us all the way through.”
