Swansea City players joined the club's Disabled Supporters' Association (DSA) to celebrate Christmas at the Swansea.com Stadium as the club hosted its second Christmas Week of Giving.

The event brought 160 members of the fan support group together at the most festive time of the year, while also giving them the opportunity to reflect on another successful year for the DSA.

Among the guests of honour were first-team stars Ronald, Gonçalo Franco, Andy Fisher, Myles Peart-Harris and Žan Vipotnik, along with Lee Trundle, Cyril and Cybil, and Santa Claus!

While getting to chat with the players was one of the highlights of the event, the activities also raised money for future DSA activities, and members donated hundreds of gifts to the Mr X Appeal (a campaign providing gifts to children across the city, ensuring every child has something to open on Christmas morning).

Goalkeeper Fisher said: “If coming to events like this makes someone’s day even one per cent better, then it’s worth it.

“Christmas is such a happy time of the year and it’s good to see so many people coming together for events like this.

“Not every club is as good as this one in terms of going out, visiting people, and it’s nice to be here.”

DSA secretary Cath Dyer added: “It’s been so lovely. There are a lot of people here who we don’t see that often throughout the year but everyone comes along and joins in.

“For some of our members, this might be the only Christmas event they can come to – due to accessibility – so the fact that everyone can come here have a chat and meet new friends, that’s what it’s all about.

“This events means so much to people. And the fact that the players come and show support is amazing. Well, you’ve seen the smile it puts on people’s faces.”

The DSA launched 13 years ago and aims to provide support for members of the Jack Army with disabilities. There are over 200 members of the supporters' group.
