Chris Llewellyn | We need to find that clinical edge

Swansea City Under-21s' coach Chris Llewellyn felt a point against Ipswich Town was a fair result for the young Swans, but admitted they could easily have taken all three points but for missed opportunities in the final third.

The young Swans had a handful of chances in each half at the Joma High Performance Centre, with Ben Lloyd and Thomas Woodward having the best of them, but were unable to find the breakthrough as it ended goalless.

Llewellyn was pleased with the squad's defensive display and the energy of their substitutes, but acknowledged they need to be more ruthless in front of goal.

"We had a chat in the dressing room at full-time, and we think it was the case that the two sides were evenly-matched," said Llewellyn.

"Overall, I think we had the better chances but we did not do enough to win the game, and it was probably the same for Ipswich. I think it's a fair result overall.

"We've had a few games recently where we've conceded a lot of goals, and we've been working on that in training, especially our box defending.

"Until the last five minutes of the game, where the game became a lot more stretched and there were a lot of gaps, I think Kit [Margetson] had to make one good save at the end, and we were happy with our defensive display overall.

"We just seem to be lacking that inventiveness around the final third at the moment.

"We're getting into some good areas and it's just that little bit of clinical finishing that we're missing at the moment. But that's something else we'll be working on."
