Chris Church | We played some of our best football of the season
Swansea City Women’s interim head coach Chris Church hailed his side's performance in their 5-0 win over The New Saints Women as their best of the season so far.
The Swans were two goals ahead after just 12 minutes, Katy Hosford netted her 11th goal of the season before Stacey John-Davis doubled the lead soon after.
Sammy Wynne headed home a third after the break as she converted from Hosford’s corner, before John-Davis’ pressing forced a mistake in the TNS backline to score her second of the game.
Substitute Chloe Chivers rounded off a five-star performance when she added the Swans fifth, extending their strong form to 13 wins from their last 14 games in all competitions.
Victory also sees Swans continue their excellent home form, having netted 13 goals and conceded none in their three outings at Llandarcy in 2024.
Church has been delighted with the form his side are displaying, and believes they are hitting their stride at just the right time.
“The players applied themselves really well, everything we’ve worked on and talked about came out and we played some of the best football we have all season,” said Church.
“Llandarcy has always been a difficult place to come and we want to make sure that continues and our home form counts for a lot.
“We’ve spoke about wanting to be as close to the top as possible heading into phase two and we want to keep that momentum going.
“It’s easy to drop off after a few good wins, so the mentality needs to stay strong and we need to remain switched on to make sure we keep applying ourselves well.
“I asked for a statement win and I think we got it today, we had good wins against Cardiff Met, but to have a big one against a top-four rival shows how far we have come.
“If we want to be fighting for trophies this is the sort of form we need to be finding, so to be showing it after Christmas with everything still on the line makes me very happy.”
