Chelsea test will lay down marker for U18s, says Grey
Coach Jon Grey believes Swansea City Under-18s’ clash with Chelsea this weekend will provide a marker for their season so far.
The young Swans go into the game at Landore (11am) unbeaten in Premier League South with victories against Reading and West Ham before draws against Fulham and Aston Villa. Chelsea, meanwhile, are top of the table with four wins from four.
And despite losing out to Chelsea twice last season, Grey believes the U18s are starting to show they can match the top academy sides.
“Our confidence at the minute is sky high,” he said. “This game will be a very good test and will show where we are this season.
“Myself and Anthony Wright are delighted with the progress the boys have made as individuals and as a team this campaign.
“To be unbeaten at this stage is testament to the work they have put in.
“Chelsea have a number of very good young players but we fear no one and we can’t give them too much respect.
“They are one of the best academies in the world so we will go out there and give everything we have got.”
Entry to watch the game at Landore training ground is FREE, but there is no parking at the facility.
