Chelsea Herbert v Pontypridd United Women

Goalkeeper Chelsea Herbert says Swansea City Women head into this afternoon's Genero Adran Trophy semi-final against The New Saints Women brimming with confidence.

The Swans have been on an excellent run of form which has seem them reach the last four of this competition and the Welsh Cup, as well as narrowing the gap at the top of the Genero Adran Premier.

The Swans extended their unbeaten sequence to 11 games with a 2-0 win over league leaders Cardiff City Women last time out, ending their opponents 35-game run without defeat in the top-flight.

And, with Swansea still fighting on all three fronts, Herbert says confidence is high heading into the knockout matches.

“We are all really excited for the game, to be in the semi-finals is something that we are looking forward to,” said Herbert.

“It’s really important for us, we want to win as much silverware as we can this year and achieve everything that we can.

“Everyone is feeling really confident, particularly after the derby win, I think it gave us a boost that we needed, so confidence is definitely high.

“Every year we set our sights on the treble, so to be in the semi-finals of both cups is a really great place to be.

“TNS deserve a lot of credit for how they have stepped up into the league, everyone has bumps in the road every now and then, but they are a good footballing team.

“They are a team that is good on the counter-attack, they’ve put in some really good performances so it’s important not to underestimate them.”

Herbert finished phase one of the Genero Adran Premier with the joint most clean sheets, and she has kept six in total in all competitions.

The keeper was delighted to end the first phase in a rich vein of form, and has thanked her teammates for their efforts in making the Swans as hard to break down as possible.

“I’m really gobsmacked and really proud to have achieved it, it’s obviously a massive thanks to the girls as well because it’s always a team effort," added Herbert.

“Everyone has worked incredibly hard to help me achieve that, I’m really proud of myself and of the team as well.”
