Chelsea end U18s’ winning run
Swansea City Under-18s saw their four game winning run in Premier League South ended by a 5-1 defeat against league leaders Chelsea at Cobham Training Centre.
The Blues continued their dominance at home as striker Charlie Brown fired Chelsea into the lead inside ten minutes.
The young Swans almost levelled up a minute later as Oliver Cooper saw his chance cleared off the line.
However Chelsea doubled their lead just before the half hour mark as full-back Tariq Lamptey beat two defenders before supplying Conor Gallagher.
Chelsea added a third five minutes later through Tariq Uwakwe’s impressive finish before Marc Guehi headed another before half time.
Swansea rallied after the break and looked to get something from the contest as Oli Cooper headed home a free-kick.
But the goal would only deny the home side a 13th clean sheet as Marcel Lewis’ curling free-kick secured Chelsea three points extending their lead at the top of the table to nine. Swansea meanwhile stay fourth.
The young Swans are next in action this Sunday as a Under-19s side faces Newport County in the quarter-final of the FAW Youth Cup at Landore (2pm).
