Swansea City Women head coach Ceri Phillips was disappointed with the performance in their 3-1 defeat to Cardiff Met and says they must learn from their mistakes.

Phillips’ side found themselves 1-0 down after Ingrid Aadland capitalised on a loose ball in the box following a good save by Claire Skinner, before conceding a second to Ellie Preece early in the second half.

Skipper Katy Hosford pulled one back for the Swans with 10 minutes to go but, as the Swans pushed for an equaliser, Erin Murray would net a third for Met to seal all three points.

Phillips felt the Swans took too long to get into the contest and hopes his players can quickly learn from this game and bounce back.

“Everybody involved is disappointed,” he said.

“We felt we took too long to get going and allowed Cardiff Met too many opportunities to get a foothold in the game.

“We gave ourselves a bit of a mountain to climb at 2-0 to get something from the game, you’re always playing catch up at that point.

“There is an opportunity to put it right next week, but we need to make sure when these moments happen that we don’t revisit them again.

“We need to put things right as a group and then put it right the week after, and make sure we don’t revisit this again.

“We’re three games in and we haven’t really put in a polished performance that we can say as a group we are very happy with.

“There is a lot to put right this week, but the beauty of football is that the games come around very quickly, and you can put things right very quickly.”
