Ceri Phillips | We didn't create enough chances
Swansea City Ladies head coach Ceri Phillips was disappointed to see his side's long unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat away at The New Saints Women on Sunday.
A first half penalty for TNS put them ahead, with Beth Lewis converting from the spot, before Katy Hosford replied with a stunning free-kick before the break.
But a goal scrambled home by Emily Ridge would condemn the Swans to a first league defeat since September.
Phillips was disappointed but has encouraged his side to pick themselves back up heading into their final game of the season against champions Cardiff City.
“We are disappointed with the result, of course,” said Phillips.
“I felt we started the game well and had some good moments in the first half, we had a lot of possession but didn’t create enough chances to test them at the back.
“Credit to TNS, they were in good form and caused us a few problems at the back, in the second half in particular.
“It is frustrating as results have been great in the league of late and we wanted to finish the season strongly, to give us a strong base to go off into the start of next season. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite do enough and faced a strong TNS performance.
“We will be throwing everything at the final game, it’s a derby game and we would love to repeat the successful result of the men's team at the weekend and finish the season on a high.”
The Swans season comes to a conclusion on April 15th as they face champions Cardiff City Women at the Cardiff City Stadium (3pm kick-off.)
