Ceri Phillips | I’m really pleased with the standard of goals we scored
Swansea City Ladies head coach Ceri Phillips was delighted with his team's performance as the Swans won their opening pre-season fixture against Bridgwater United.
The Swans were four goals up at the break, with Stacey John-Davis netting twice and two trialists also finding the back of the net.
Monet Legall added a fifth early in the second half and Chloe Chivers scored the Swans' sixth, with Bridgwater also finding two second-half goals.
“It was a really good game, and we got a lot out of it," said Phillips.
"We got the chance to work on a few things that we’ve worked on in training lately.
“It’s really important now that we build on the objectives that the players achieved today and keep working on that ahead of the next game.
“This match was good for players’ confidence too. Attacking players got goals and we played some good football.
“It’s been a while since they played so it’s good to build that confidence. We want to take it into next week now with a good week of training and look to bring out the next part of our play that we want to build on.
“The way we set up gave our attacking players a lot of freedom to go and be themselves. I’m really pleased with the standard of goals we scored and the patterns of play.
"From the back to the front we are really happy with how we played.
“We said at the start of pre-season that each game and each session is about building up, we’ve really stripped things back this summer and looked to rebuild what we want to do, so it’s important now that we take it one game to the next and build how we want to play ready for the start of the season.”
