Caroline Gwilym - Practicing what I preach

Hello and a Happy New Year!

Welcome to my blog and an introduction, or “heads up”, of what’s to come.

I have decided to write a monthly blog which you will be able to access. Basically a record of my path back to a healthier and fitter me over the next 12 months.

You will get an insight into what has led me to this point, probably the most unfit and heaviest of my adult life, apart from (just!) when I was pregnant with my daughter. I will share what I am doing to get my health & fitness back, and include some general awareness raising and information sharing on related health & wellbeing content.

My aim is to be open, honest and show vulnerability, we are all human after all, by sharing the ups and downs of how things are going, as I strive to rebalance my life, and put my health and wellbeing at the forefront, whilst holding myself accountable, to you.

Some of the key themes I want to cover across the 12 issues this year will include:

The 5 ways to wellbeing – proven strands to support and enhance wellbeing;

An introduction to Lifestyle Medicine -pillars that support people to develop and sustain healthy and meaningful relationships and increase social connection to reduce stress and promote both physical and mental health; and

Blue Health - the idea that being near, in, under or on water is good for physical and mental health. Some of you will already have heard me talk about the sea being my “happy place”.

I have wanted to find a new way of keeping connected with the Foundation’s growing and vibrant health & wellbeing community, to keep the conversations going on an individual and group level. It’s a little scary and daunting, but I am determined to hold myself accountable and I really hope you enjoy the content and interact with me throughout the year to come.

All my own words, opinions and views. The first entry is coming soon which you will be able to access through this link.
