Cameron Congreve | We'd love nothing more than to reach the final
Midfielder Cameron Congreve says Swansea City Under-21s' are excited about the opportunity to book a place in the Nathaniel MG Cup final as they prepare to host Cardiff Met in the semi-finals of the competition at Landore on Wednesday evening (7.45pm).
The development side - competing in the cup for the first time as a wild card - reached the last four thanks to a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel in October's quarter-final.
The Swans had previously eased past Carmarthen Town and Caerau Ely, while they beat Cardiff City Under-21s on penalties at the Swansea.com Stadium in September.
Nineteen-year-old Congreve played in the under-21s' tie against the Bluebirds, and his performance earned him the Player of the Match award, along with a place in the Cymru Leagues' Team of the Week.
And the Wales youth international is hoping the age-grade side can take their cup run one step further and reach the final at Jenner Park, the home of Barry Town, on January 20.
"The mood is really good, we're really excited for it. It's a semi-final, so it's going to be an extremely competitive game for us," said Congreve.
"They're a men's team, so they'll bring a lot of physicality. I think it's something we can handle and we can hopefully fight until the very end and get that win.
"We have great home form, we're very comfortable when we play at home and we can definitely use that to our advantage.
"Playing against Cardiff City at the stadium was brilliant, especially in front of the fans and, hopefully, we get a good crowd down there on Wednesday.
"It would mean a lot to me, the boys and the staff to reach the final, we put a lot of work in everyday and we've been in over Christmas to make sure we're prepared."
Entry for this fixture is free and supporters are permitted on site from 6.45pm.
