Caitlin Williams | The club have strong aspirations and I want to be a part of that
Caitlin Williams spoke of how Swansea City Women’s ambitions played a key role in her decision to join the club.
Williams, 22, has signed for the Swans for the remainder of the season, having left English third-tier side Gwalia United.
The defender has also previously played in the Genero Adran Premier, featuring for Cyncoed during the 2019-20 season.
Williams is the third January arrival for the Swans, following goalkeeper Verity Jones and defender Lauren Davies to the club.
She hopes she can help Jamie Sherwood’s side achieve their aspirations of silverware this season, and admitted that desire for success made the Swans an attractive proposition.
“I’m very excited to be here, it’s a new opportunity for me to grow and develop as a player,” said Williams.
“I’ve always looked at the club from an outside perspective and thought that it had big aspirations and that is something that I want to be a part of.
“I’m a physical player, I use my body quite well. I’m hard working and I like to win the ball quite a lot, and I like to have the ball at my feet and play.
“I’ve had a little break from football, so hopefully I can build some minutes and go from there, the girls have all been so lovely and welcoming and it’s been a good environment to come into.
“I was a little 16-year-old when I was last playing in the league for Cyncoed, it has developed so much since then.
“It’s so much more competitive, it’s not just one or two teams competing at the top it’s a lot more wide spread and there’s more competitiveness across the board.
“For the team, we are aiming for silverware, I haven’t personally won any trophies so that would be a nice one to add to the list.”
