Britton: Positive performances will produce points
26th September
Leon Britton is confident the points will come for the Swans if they replicate their positive performance at the weekend.
Francesco Guidolin's side were beaten 3-1 at the weekend by Premier League leaders Manchester City, who have now won all ten of their fixtures this season in all competitions.
Despite falling behind to Sergio Aguero's early strike, the Swans were back on level terms by the 13th minute after Fernando Llorente struck his first goal for the club.
Aguero put the visitors ahead in the second half from the penalty spot before Raheem Sterling rounded off victory for Pep Guardiola's team.
But Britton believes the Swans will pick up Premier League points if they can hit the same level of performances in upcoming matches.
"It was a frustrating result. I thought we started to come back into the game after the penalty," said Britton, who captained the Swans on Saturday.
"Unfortunately I gave the ball away and they scored on a quick counter attack.
"But we can take some positives from the result even though it did not go our way.
"We started to game well and we were disappointed to fall behind in the first ten minutes but we showed great character to fight back to 1-1.
"We got back in the game and played very well but it was frustrating that the second half did not go our way.
"If we can keep on playing like that - showing what character we have on the pitch against good sides like Manchester City - I am sure we will pick up the points we need.
"Our performance against Southampton was poor but we were much better on Saturday. We are disappointed with the result but we are confident going forward.
"If we carry on like that, I think we will come away with the points we need to stay in this league."
