Brandon inspired by Potter presence

Brandon Cooper admits Graham Potter's willingness to watch Swansea City Under-23s in action this season has provided plenty of motivation for the club's development players.

Potter and his staff have been a regular feature at the development side’s home matches so far in 2018-19.

They were at Landore once more to check out Friday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in Premier League 2.

And centre-back Cooper, who has featured once in the first team under Potter despite being only 18, says he and his team-mates are inspired by the presence of the Swans' senior management team.

“It’s always good motivation to perform in front of the manager and his staff,” he said.

“A lot of the boys who have been with us have gone on to do very well with the first team.

“That’s the next step and where the other boys and I want to be.”

Cooper, who made his first-team debut against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup in August, did his chances of getting some more senior action no harm last Friday as he headed home the Swans' goal from a Tyler Reid cross.

And the Bridgend product is looking to find the target more often as he aims to help the under-23s climb the league table.

“Adding goals to my game is something I’ve wanted to do,” he added. “I get on the end of at least a couple of crosses every game.

“It’s my second goal in the league. Hopefully there are more to come and I can help the team get some wins.”
