Borja | I want to help Swansea City any way I can
Borja Baston hopes there are plenty more goals to come in Swansea City colours after helping Steve Cooper’s men beat Hull.
The Swans had trailed to Kamil Grosicki’s deflected opener, but hit back early in the second half as Borja nodded in a Jay Fulton flick.
It was his first goal for the club in 1,022 days, and Mike van der Hoorn’s header soon sealed all three points in Cooper’s first game in charge.
Borja, who has spent the last two seasons on loan in his homeland, wants to show the Swans supporters exactly what he can do.
And he hopes his close-range finish against the Tigers is just the start.
“For me, it’s very important for my confidence to show my qualities to the fans,” he said.
“I am very happy to help the team. Football is so quick and I had to react fast in that moment.
“I want to score a lot of goals. I want to help the team in any way I can this season, so to do it by scoring goals would be perfect for me.
“I also want to say the fans were amazing with me and all the team. I want to thank them for their support.”
Borja led the line following the sale of Oli McBurnie to Sheffield United, and he praised head coach Cooper for making him feel part of the Swans set-up.
“It was great to be back at the Liberty Stadium. I am so happy to score my first goal of the season and help the team to win,” he added.
“I am very happy to be back with Swansea and all my team-mates.
“I really enjoy working with Steve. He’s a very good coach and his team are brilliant as well. I think we have a great team.
“We have a very good team spirit. We were very good in the second half. Within five minutes, we had scored two goals. I think this is the way we want to continue in our next game.”
