Blake | No reason we cannot bounce back

Matthew Blake believes there is no reason why Swansea City Under-23s cannot secure an immediate return to Premier League 2 Division One.

The young Swans are preparing for life in the second tier of development football following their relegation from the top flight in 2018-19.

Following a hugely successful debut campaign in 2017-18 that saw them finish fourth in Premier League 2 Division One, the U23s were unable to replicate that last term as they suffered relegation.

Left-back Blake knows the Swans’ quest for an immediate return will be far from easy.

However, the 19-year-old insists they should be confident given their previous top-flight experience. 

“Just looking at the sides that are in there, you can tell it’s a really testing league,” he said. “But we have to keep going and see where it takes us.

“Having come down from the top division, we can go into the games with confidence that we can beat most of the teams.

“There’s no reason why we can’t go straight back up.”
