Ben Wilmot | Swansea City style key in loan switch
Ben Wilmot pointed to Steve Cooper’s track record and the club’s style as the key reasons behind his loan switch to Swansea City.
The centre-back officially joined Cooper’s squad this morning on a season-long loan after completing a successful medical.
The 19-year-old goes straight into training with the first-team squad as the Swans prepare for their final pre-season friendly against Atalanta at the Liberty.
And Wilmot is looking forward to getting started under a head coach and club in which he feels he can continue his development.
“I’m really excited to get started. Everything seemed to fit by coming here,” said Wilmot.
“The head coach has been very good with young players, and that’s something I need at this stage of my career.
“The style in which Swansea play is very much to my strengths and is how I like to play the game, so they were big factors in my move here.
“I want to play and help the team as much as I can all season long. He looks like he will give that chance to young players, so hopefully I can make the most of the opportunity.
“I’ve heard lots of good things about him. I’ve not worked with him, but I’m told he’s very detailed in the way he works, so I’m looking forward to developing under him.
“We’ve only got a week until the season starts, but I have time to settle and get going.
“I’m excited to see how the season unfolds.”
