Lifelong Swansea City fan Ben Lloyd says it would mean everything to him and his under-21s' teammates if they could secure silverware and lift the Nathaniel MG Cup when they face The New Saints in Saturday's final at Jenner Park (5.30pm).

The Swans booked their place in the showpiece by beating JD Cymru Premier side Cardiff Met on penalties in the semi-finals.

They previously saw off competition from Briton Ferry Llansawel, Camarthen Town, Caerau Ely and Cardiff City Under-21s en route to the final; and will now face nine-time winners TNS with the trophy on the line.

The 18-year-old scored in the first round of the competition against Carmarthen Town in July 2023, and has recently returned from injury, scoring on his return in the development side's comeback win against Colchester United in the Professional Development League.

"There's definitely been more of a buzz in training in the lead up to the final. I think you can tell by that in the changing rooms, it's our number one focus at the moment," said Lloyd.

"We're all looking forward to it, we're getting all the work in now and we'd love nothing more than to lift the trophy on Saturday, it would mean so much to us all.

"It's been a great journey, we've had some amazing moments in the competition. It's been a good experience, playing senior men's teams has been a fantastic test for us.

"There's been games where there's been some huge crowds, and that always gives us a boost on the pitch. We all hope there will be a good crowd on Saturday.

"We'll be expecting a tough game, we're going to have to be on our top game, but I don't think it's anything we can't do."
