Ben Cabango will undergo an assessment on the groin injury he suffered at Portsmouth, while Swansea City are hopeful Gonçalo Franco’s lay-off will prove to be a short one.

Defender Cabango was forced off during the closing stages of the 4-0 New Year’s Day defeat at Portsmouth, with head coach Luke Williams saying it is too early to say whether he could be available for Saturday’s meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Midfielder Franco, meanwhile, had four of the teeth in his lower jaw displaced in an incident during the win over Luton.

He is making good progress, but the nature of the injury means specialist advice may be needed before the Portuguese is cleared to return to action.

“Ben felt something in his groin, so that is a concern for us, now we have to assess him as quickly as we can. I cannot tell you anymore because we have not had a proper chance to look at him yet,” said Williams.

“Franco is in a far better place than he was when he left the pitch, so we are hoping he is going to make a quick recovery but we will need some specialists to give us the all-clear to make sure we do not put him in a dangerous situation.”
