Captain Ben Cabango hopes Swansea City’s 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers can provide the foundations for an improved end to the season.

The victory over the play-off chasing Lancashire side was Cabango’s first on home soil since becoming club captain, and there was a clean sheet to go with the three goals and three points.

It was Swansea’s first win over a side in the Championship’s top six in just over a year, and was a welcome boost after a difficult run of form.

And skipper Cabango hopes the intensity and positive intent in the performance can be sustained over the games ahead.

“It was a top win, I think you could see from the start we were on the front foot,” said the Wales international.

“We looked to play forward when we could, something (caretaker head coach) Alan Sheehan had mentioned in the week, we have worked on it and it has paid off.

“It is massive to get the win, because it has been frustrating for all of us. For the fans, and inside the group too, but that is a performance we can take a lot from.

“Sheez has tried to be really positive and I think you could see that in how we played.

“The fans were fantastic, right from the first minute you could hear them singing and they gave us such a boost.

“In the second half when we had a few tough moments they were right behind us and gave us real belief.

“We fed off that and the momentum was with us.”
