Ben Cabango looking to make most of Wales recall
Swansea City defender Ben Cabango wants to use this international break to boost his hopes of World Cup selection following his return to the Wales squad.
An ankle injury sustained against Bournemouth in April kept the centre-half out of the closing stages of Swansea City’s season and saw him miss the all-important play-off final with Ukraine, which saw Wales secure their place at the World Cup for the first time since 1958.
Since successfully returning in August from surgery on the ligament injury, Cabango has been in impressive form for the Swans and he was rewarded with an international recall by Wales boss Rob Page.
Nations League matches against Poland and Belgium offer a final opportunity to stake a claim for a place in Page's final squad for Qatar, and it's a chance Cabango is determined to take..
“I was delighted to get called up,” he said.
“We’ve got two big games now against Belgium and Poland so hopefully I can get some minutes there.
“I’m looking forward to it and with the World Cup around the corner, I’m just working hard.
“Obviously I was injured in the summer so I was gutted to miss those important games.
“I’m back now and I just want to play.
“I’m working hard every day improving under the gaffer. He’s helping me so much and it’s showing on the pitch, in possession and out of possession.
"I’m improving in every way and hopefully I get some time at the Wales camp to show what I’m about.”
