Ben Cabango | It’s always an honour to be called up for Wales
Swansea City defender Ben Cabango was delighted that his hard work this season has been rewarded with another international call-up for Wales as Rob Page's side prepare to kick of their European Championship qualifying campaign.
The centre-back is joined by Ollie Cooper and Liam Cullen in the squad as Wales kick off a new era against Croatia and Latvia.
The Dragons start their bid to reach Euro 2024 against World Cup semi-finalists Croatia in Split this evening.
For Cooper and Cullen it is a first call-up to the senior squad, but Cabango is a regular and has five caps.
“It’s always such an honour to be called up for Wales,” he said.
“It gives you a little reward for all of the hard work you’ve been doing [at your club].
“We’ve [Swansea] been through a tough period right now, but we’ve still been working hard so to get called up is great.
“I’m really happy and I can’t wait for the qualifiers o get started.
“Ollie’s deserved his call-up so much, too. He’s been wicked this season. He always works so hard in the games and in training and I think he fully deserves it.”
Cooper – who discussed his inclusion in the Wales squad in last weekend’s matchday programme – was delighted to be rewarded for a stellar first season in the Championship with his first senior international call-up.
“I’m over the moon,” he said.
“To finally be involved is amazing. I’m so excited to be involved.
“I think it’s an exciting time for everyone – the players, staff and the fans – to see what this group can do.”
