Ben Cabango | The intensity levels have been high
Ben Cabango believes Swansea City’s players are feeling the benefits of the high-level of intensity in training throughout their pre-season programme.
The Swans are currently in Austria as they near the end of a week-long camp near the town of Stegersbach.
Centre-half Cabango was among those to get a full 90 minutes under his belt against FC Köln on Wednesday, with the Swans looking strong physically in draining heat.
They face Macedonian side FK Vardar on Saturday to conclude the week, and Cabango feels the foundations laid at Fairwood and the work that has been put in will stand Luke Williams’ side in good stead.
“It’s definitely been good getting that first full 90 minutes under my belt, it was needed and we had a good test against tough opposition,” said Cabango.
“We grew into the game and I thought we showed good fitness levels. It was a tough one in the heat and I was feeling a bit leggy towards the end of it, but we came through it and I think that will benefit us.
“Obviously there are things we know we need to improve and work on, there has been a real intensity about pre-season and then it’s about putting that into a game situation.
“The hard work started at Fairwood and it has carried on here, it’s about making sure we get as much out of it as possible and we’ve got another game to finish things off on Saturday.”
