Ben Cabango fully focused on helping Swansea City finish key period with victory
Ben Cabango insists all his focus is on ensuring Swansea City head into the World Cup break on the back of victory at Huddersfield this weekend.
The 22-year-old defender has been named in the Wales squad for the global showpiece in Qatar, and will link up with the national team following the Championship fixture at the John Smith’s Stadium.
With the tournament so close and Cabango – as well as fellow Swan Joe Allen – set to be part of a first Wales squad to grace the game’s biggest stage in 64 years, the centre-half could be forgiven for having half an eye on Qatar.
But Cabango has had no such thoughts, and is firmly focused on helping Russell Martin’s side end a strong period of the season with another positive result in west Yorkshire.
“The focus does not change for me,” he said.
All the way along the focus has been on performing for Swansea City, and working as hard as possible for myself and the team.
We do need to finish this little section of the season with a win, because the last 12 or 13 games have seen us be in really good form.
"These last three or four games have not quite been the results we wanted, but we want to put that right on Saturday at Huddersfield.
"We are confident, I think you can see that in our performances, and the results in the last 10 games and more have backed that up.
"We have been one of the form teams in the Championship over this period and that shows what we are capable of.
"The challenge now is to be relentless and stay on it."
