Swansea City Under-21s' midfielder Azeem Abdulai hopes to finish the season strongly after revealing his pride at his first call up for Scotland.

The 20-year-old has had a fine season in Swans colours. He made his senior debut in a Carabao Cup match against Oxford United in August and has regularly joined the first team to train at their Fairwood base.

And his hard work this season saw him receive his first call up to the Scotland Under-21 national team during the March international break.

He made two appearances in dark blue. He came off the bench against Sweden and started against Wales Under-21s, where he faced off against Swansea team-mates Josh Thomas and Joel Cotterill.

“It was brilliant to represent my country,” he said.

“It was my first call up at any age. I feel like I’ve done myself, the club and my parents proud.

“It was good [playing against Wales Under-21s]. I know a lot of the boys better than anyone else so I was looking forward to it, but obviously that game didn’t go how I wanted it too.

"I hope I can keep progressing from here over the remainder of the season."
