Away Guide - Stoke City

Swansea City head to Stoke City on Tuesday in the Championship, so we’ve put together this handy guide for supporters who are making the trip to back the Swans.

Stoke City vs Swansea City

Date: Tuesday, December 12 (7.45pm)

Address: bet365 Stadium, Stanley Matthews Way, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 4EG.

Distance from the Swansea.com Stadium: 185 mi

TICKETS

The club has received an initial allocation of 1,000 tickets for this fixture.

Away supporters are housed in The Caldwell Construction Stand which has open corners. This allows wind to swirl through and contributes to the popular football cliché “cold Tuesday night in Stoke”.

Tickets will remain on sale until 10am on December 12 and are priced at a maximum of £20 due to a reciprocal pricing agreement between the two clubs.

Please note, there is no pay on the day at the bet365 Stadium. Anyone who does not purchase a ticket in advance should not travel.

POSTAGE & DELIVERY

All tickets purchased before 5pm on Friday, December 8 have been posted out first class, with any tickets purchased after this point being available to collect from the Swansea.com Stadium ticket office on Monday, December 11 and until 10am on the morning of Tuesday, December 12.

If your tickets have not arrived in the post please let the ticket office know by emailing ticketing@swanseacity.com, including your customer number or booking reference, and the club will arrange duplicate tickets for you to collect at the host club.

PRE-MATCH LIGHTSHOW

Stoke City have advised that there will be lightshow ahead of the match.

Their website reads: “Supporters with photosensitive disorders, sensitivities to strobe lighting or adverse reactions to flashing light are advised that they may wish to avoid being within the stadium bowl until the show has concluded. This will be shortly prior to the players emerging for a 7.45pm start.”

SUPPORTER COACH TRAVEL

Coach travel for this match is now off sale. The service will depart from the Swansea.com Stadium at 1.30pm.

Please note that under the traffic commissioners’ guidelines for football coach travel, the consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited. Should any supporter be found in possession of, or consuming, alcohol during the trip the driver has the legal right to return to the Swansea.com Stadium without those persons responsible. This applies to any form of anti-social behaviour.

In addition, further sanctions will be taken against anyone found in breach of this rule.

TRAVELLING BY TRAIN

Trains from Swansea to Stoke leave at 23 minutes past the hour every hour from 8.23am. There are also earlier trains which run at less regular intervals.

There are no return trains available on the night of the game.

Stoke-on-Trent Railway Station is situated on the West Coast Main Line and provides direct access from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Derby and Crewe. The station offers a bar, Bureau de Change, ATM machine and two coffee shops, along with toilet and Wi-Fi facilities.

Stoke City has advised that away supporters are often met by the police at the railway station and taken to Staffordshire University or a pub near to it for refreshments. They are then shuttle bussed up to the bet365 Stadium. After the game, there are buses that return away fans to the railway station.

Supporters can take a two-minute walk from the station to Glebe Street in Stoke town centre, where shuttle buses run to the bet365 Stadium at regular intervals.

Taxi from the railway station

A taxi rank is located outside the station.

Anyone looking to travel to the match by train should plan their journey well in advance and pay close attention to any rail disruption.

BY BUS

Supporters should look out for the number 20 bus service which runs from Stand N at the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Bus Station in Hanley to the bet365 Stadium.

This also stops at the railway station and town centre.

Supporters are encouraged to check local bus timetables and plan their journey in advance.

PARKING

The bet365 Stadium is a five-minute drive away from Junction 15 of the M6 for those travelling from the north or south. The ground is well signposted.

Pre-paid match-by-match passes for the club’s South Car Park can be brought directly from the Ticket Office, either in person or by calling 01782 367599.

If you’re unable to park at the stadium, a number of surrounding businesses also offer officially recognised pay-on-the-day parking. These are: Powerleague five-a-side football centre, Hem Heath Cricket Club, Longton Rugby Club, BFM Europe and Screwfix.

NEARBY PUBS

There are very few places in close proximity to the ground and the town centre is a 40-minute walk from the stadium.

There is a Holiday Inn and a Harvester that allow away fans. A bit further away on Dennis Viollet Avenue is a Powerleague complex that also has a bar, which permits away supporters. Longton Rugby Club, which has two bars, is also an option and is around 20 minutes from the stadium.
