It has been six-and-a-half years since Swansea City last travelled to the Kassam Stadium for a competitive match, so here’s some information travelling Jacks might find useful ahead of the journey to take on Oxford United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

Oxford United v Swansea City

Date: Tuesday, August 9 (Kick-off 7.45pm)

Address: The Kassam Stadium, Grenoble Road, Oxford OX4 4XP

Distance from the Swansea.com Stadium: 157 miles

SEATING FOR AWAY FANS

The uniquely shaped Kassam Stadium holds approximately 12,500 fans in its all-seater venue but what makes this stadium unusual is that it has fairly sizable stands on the south, north and east of the ground, but no west stand.

In place of a stand at that end of the pitch, Oxford have “The Future West Stand” car park which is separated from the pitch by a few metres of run-off area and a wall.

Away supporters are generally housed at the west end of the North Stand (closest to the Vue Cinema and Bowlplex), because there is no west stand, it can get windy in the ground.

Views from the north stand are very good and all facilities and amenities can be found in the concourse below the stand.

TRAVELLING TO THE GROUND

By car

The stadium’s postcode is OX4 4XP and it is well signposted on all major approach roads into Oxford.

The stadium has around 2,000 unreserved car parking spaces available at each game. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Away fans should head for car park B1 or B2.

When these are full, supporters will be directed to the overflow car park.

There are restrictions on street parking near the stadium, and supporters should take note of signage. Traffic wardens do work in the area and cars on grass verges are often given tickets.

Oxford recommend that fans arrive as early as possible to get a space and to avoid queues. There is only one road into the stadium complex.

By train

The closest train station to the Kassam Stadium is Oxford. This is five miles from the ground and a taxi will cost approximately £15-£20.

Any supporters looking to travel by train are advised to plan their journey in advance and pay attention to details of journeys in both directions.

Swansea City supporter coaches

Coach travel for this fixture is available to purchase online at a charge of £34, and will depart from the Swansea.com Stadium at 1.30pm.

The club encourages supporters to purchase online, with all tickets that are purchased online being posted out. This is the fastest and most convenient method to secure your seat.

PUBS AROUND THE GROUND

Directly opposite the ground is a Frankie and Benny’s and Hollywood Bowl. Oxford United’s away guide does advise that these can become extremely busy and supporters hoping to enjoy a meal here should book in advance where possible.

For pubs, there is nothing in the immediate vicinity of the stadium, Oxford United recommend the following three pubs for match-goers.

Please note, these pubs are open to both home and away supporters:

The Catherine Wheel in Sandford (OX4 4YP)

This place serves food (Indian is their specialty) and a large selection of beers with real ale. Usually open from midday on matchdays, it’s a 20-minute walk to the stadium.

The George in Littlemore (OX4 4PU)

This is an old-fashioned pub with TVs and a beer garden. There is on-site car parking and it is then a 20-minute walk to the stadium (01865 779341).

The Golden Ball in Littlemore (OX4 4LQ)

This also serves food and has a beer garden and parking (01865 806558). It’s around a 15-minute walk to the stadium
