Ash: The hard work is paying off

Ashley Williams believes the squad are reaping the rewards of their hard work in pre-season following back-to-back Premier League wins.

The Swans followed up victory at Old Trafford last weekend with a win over Burnley on Saturday that saw Garry Monk's men take maximum points from their opening two games.

Nathan Dyer's goal midway through the first half separated the two sides as he latched on to a Gylfi Sigurdsson pass before firing past Tom Heaton.

And the Swans skipper believes the squad have taken their hard work from pre-season into the start of the new campaign.

"We knew Burnley would play a certain way," he said. "There are no easy games in this league.

"We feel as though we could have done better in certain periods of the game, but we're delighted with the win and the clean sheet.

"If we had got a second goal then maybe it would have killed the game, but that's something we need to work on.

"We spoke a lot in pre-season about being able to score one goal and win the game. We also want to keep more clean sheets, especially at home.

"We've worked really hard in both games. If we continue like that then we'll win more games than we lose."

Williams also reserved special praise for match winner Nathan Dyer, who scored on his 100th Premier League appearance.

"It was a great goal," he said. "The build-up was perfect and it was great finish from Nathan and I'm pleased for him.

"He's worked hard in pre-season and i know he wants to score more goals so we are all really happy for him."
