Coach Anthony Wright praised a performance of dominance and control from Swansea City Under-21s after they claimed a 4-1 win over Colchester United in their first fixture of 2025.

Swansea had the better of the early exchanges, and Kyrell Wilson won and converted a penalty to put them a goal to the good.

Thomas Woodward added the Swans' second of the afternoon from a Sammy Henia-Kamau cross, before the visitors pulled one back through Alfie Bendle.

However, Wilson instantly restored Swansea's two-goal lead before the break, with Henia-Kamau the provider again.

Morgan Bates rounded off the scoring in the closing stages, curling the ball into the net from distance.

"I thought it was a very good performance, and it was a game that we dominated from start to finish. I actually also really enjoyed watching the players perform how they did," said Wright.

"To score four goals as well, just topped off the afternoon. So we're all really pleased.

"As we've seen this season, we've sent quite a lot of players on loan where they've had exposure to senior football, which has been brilliant for them, and they've all done so well.

"It gives the under-18 players an opportunity to step up. We had eight scholars in the squad for this game, and five of them started.

"It was very pleasing seeing how they applied themselves and performed."
