Anthony Wright hailed Swansea City Under-21s' performance as being at a "different level" after they rounded off their season with an outstanding 10-1 win over Birmingham City.

The in-form Swans had led 5-0 inside half an hour against the shell-shocked visitors, Josh Thomas hitting a hat-trick, with Joe Thomas and Liam Smith also on the scoresheet.

Josh Thomas added his fourth early in the second half, before Cameron Congreve, Tivonge Rushesha, Corey Hurford and captain Sam Leverett also found the net.

“I’m so proud of the players. I think the application, the appetite, everything came together today, it was amazing,” said Wright.

“To score 10 goals is the cherry on top. I’ve been critical over the last few weeks, where we’ve been scoring threes and fours and we could still have scored more because we’ve been missing a lot of chances.

“We were clinical in the final third and we’ve scored some brilliant goals, individually and as a team.

“I’m over the moon with everything that we’ve produced today.

“It was a brilliant performance, it still wasn’t perfect as we did concede a goal, which puts a slight dampener on it.

“The performance from start to finish was unreal. We looked at their team-sheet before the game and, they actually had some older players with EFL appearances.

“We said to the boys that we need to be at it, and not have a ‘it’s the last game of the season’ feel to it.

“In and out of possession, they were a different level and they ended up getting their rewards.”
