Anthony Wright | Our decision making was excellent
Anthony Wright praised a "top-drawer" performance from Swansea City Under-21s after they opened their Premier League Cup campaign with a 4-0 victory over Hull City.
The Swans played out a goalless first-half despite a handful of chances, but found a breakthrough immediately after the restart. DC United loanee, Kristian Fletcher converted a spot-kick, before Ruben Davies added a second less than a minute later.
Fletcher bagged his second goal of the evening going into the final quarter of the match, slotting it into the far corner past the fingertips of visiting keeper Owen Foster, before Liam Smith rounded off a superb showing when he made it 4-0 in injury time.
The Tigers and the Swans had locked horns earlier this month at the Swansea.com Stadium in a match which also ended 4-0 to the Swans.
It is the second cup competition the age-grade side will compete in this season, with a Nathaniel MG Cup quarter-final home match against Briton Ferry Llansawel fast approaching.
"I thought the performance was absolutely top-drawer. I thought the players, in and out of possession, were really switched on tonight," said Wright.
"We dominated the game with the ball, our decision making was great right throughout the game, and it was a really convincing win. We're really pleased.
"I know the players have definitely set goals in this competition. With the type of sides in this competition, it's a great learning moment.
"We changed the team up tonight to give some different players an opportunity. I think everyone that came in did really well.
"We want to win every game that we play, there's no doubt in that and we believe we are capable of going up against different sides we're not used to playing."
