Coach Anthony Wright hailed a performance of dominance and control from Swansea City Under-21s as they claimed a 6-0 win over Fleetwood Town in their Premier League Cup opener.

The Swans were two goals to the good at the break thanks to Sebastian Dabrowski and Ben Lloyd, with the hosts missing a penalty in between.

Four goals came in the second half for the visitors. Glory Nzingo made it 3-0 on the hour mark before Kyrell Wilson bagged a quickfire double and Lloyd completed his brace.

It was the ideal way for the Seans to kick off a competition they reached the quarter-finals of last term.

"It's a pleasing result for the players after a brilliant week of intensity shown in training," said Wright.

"It was a very satisfying performance overall, the game had lots of different elements which I thought the boys managed pretty well.

"We settled into the game and got our rhythm going after 10 minutes and we created a few opportunities to score, the first goal comes from a corner set-piece where Sebastian [Dabrowski] had a very good header."

"After that we have a large spell of dominance, however, Fleetwood were never out of the game and had it not been for Evan Watts, who made a top save, and Fleetwood missing a penalty the game could have been so different.

"Ben Lloyd scored a brilliant individual goal and we were pleased to be 2-0 up at the break. In the second half I thought we dominated the game and once we got the third to kill the opposition off we could then go and and get a few more.

"We made a few changes to get fresh legs on a heavy pitch and it was good to see Kyrell back where he had an immediate impact in crossing for the third goal, and then took advantage of the space that opened up for his own goals.

"The game finished with six goals and more importantly a clean sheet. Three weeks ago we lost 3-1 at Fleetwood, this game was a good way to show how the players can bounce back, and they certainly did that with a top performance."
