Coach Anthony Wright believes Swansea City Under-21s showed what they are capable of after beating Premier League 2 outfit Brighton and Hove Albion at Landore Training Ground.

The Swans made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League Cup with the 3-1 victory, after opening the campaign by seeing off Hull City.

The Swans opened the scoring after Kristian Fletcher struck from the edge of the area with half-hour played, giving the hosts the advantage going into the break.

The Seagulls equalised through Mark O’Mahony not long after the restart, but it didn’t matter as the Swans found the net twice in five minutes in the closing stages through an own goal, and a wonderful solo effort from Fletcher.

Brighton had beaten Valencia in the Premier League International Cup on Wednesday, and remain unbeaten in the their respective league.

And Wright was delighted with how his side handled their toughest test yet.

"I thought the boys were absolutely terrific. The application they showed, and tactically off the ball we gave them a real big problem to try and solve," said Wright.

"The shift the boys put in was outstanding, and that gave us a platform within the game.

"In possession, the boys were so brave with the way that we played through them. Overall, we're all really pleased.

"At half-time, the clear message to the boys was to keep doing what you're doing. At that point we were the better team with our structure and play.

"With and without the ball, that was very clear to see. We told them to be as ruthless as you can in the final third.

"We've scored three really good goals, we did miss a couple of sitters and we wish we could have put them away. But, I can't complain with that, it was a brilliant performance.

"That's the toughest side we've played this season by a country mile. That was a really good outfit, and they beat a side like Valencia in midweek.

"But we have great players here and, as long as we apply ourselves in the right way, we are capable of giving anyone a tough game."
