Chairman Andy Coleman believes new head coach Luke Williams is the perfect fit for Swansea City and is confident the former Notts County man will help lead the club forward.

The 43-year-old has joined the Swans on a three-and-a-half year contract from the Meadow Lane club, with the Magpies sitting in the League Two play-off places following a record-breaking promotion campaign in the National League last term.

Williams was formally unveiled to the media on Friday evening, with chairman Coleman reiterating that finding the right person to take the club forward was paramount in the recruitment process.

“I think Luke fits our style perfectly and has the ability to take it to the next level, and that’s what excites me about him joining this football club,” said Coleman.

"My job is to lead this club forward. As I’ve said before, there will be steps forward and backwards but we need to learn from them and improve.

“What matters to me is winning and connecting with the supporters and community. We talk about 'the Swansea Way' and everything is encapsulated in that.

“What we need at this football club is our supporters, our staff, our team, our chairman and everyone to be aligned because that’s when we achieve great things, and that is what I’m working towards.

“We wanted to make a really smart and thorough choice here and, as I outlined earlier, the reason we could take our time in doing so was the confidence we had in Alan Sheehan, and that was proven to be correct.

“We wanted to make sure we have the person who is the right fit to take this club forward and we’ve done so with Luke.”
