Alfie Mawson is hoping to return to training at some point in pre-season after having a knee operation.
Mawson is facing a significant lay-off after having successful surgery, meaning his hopes of going to the World Cup with England are over.
The centre-back was one of Swansea City’s most consistent performers in 2017-18, during which he did not miss a single minute of league action.
But an end-of-season operation had been planned from the moment his knee locked prior to the FA Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday in mid-February.
Mawson had been due to play in that game, but was withdrawn after going down in the warm-up at Hillsborough.
He was able to return to action the following week but now faces a battle to be fit for the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
